It is not every day that we see fashion big wigs collaborate with an equally high end brand. In a world where competition about finding what the next huge thing is, competition can sometimes be cut throat and steep.
For expensive brands, fashion is more of a business. It’s a serious playing field where strategy and game plan should be taken into consideration because after all, retail is about return of investments, the generation of revenues.
We’ve seen designers being the face of their own collections. There goes Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Victoria Beckham. This is a sight that is no longer unusual before our eyes. But seeing a brand icon in the campaign of an equally established fashion house? No, not frequent.
Needless to say unconventional. But hey, isn’t fashion also about breaking rules and surpassing boundaries of the usual and the common? Indeed, it is as Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci unveiled through a social media post that THE Donatella Versace will become the face of their 2015 fall collection. The fashionista’s appearance is a breath of fresh air that possibly set the new trend when it comes to strategic branding.
“I believe in breaking rules. Riccardo Tisci is extremely talented and above all my dear friend. We are family. I want to get rid of the old system, work together, support each other and make fashion a true global community,” Says Donatella about the said team up.
Fashion history will not be complete without Donatella’s name being brought about. Together with his brother Gianni, the two built one of the world’s most famous and established fashion empire, Versace.
After his brother’s death, Donatella has run the Versace Group and became its creative director. Her effectiveness and influence has no doubt drove the brand even more into the pedestal of prominent fashion houses the world has ever known.
