Do you know that according to research, men wearing white tees are 12 percent more attractive to women? No right? Because who cares about white tees. You have them in bulk stuffed (probably haphazardly if you’re not OC) in your wardrobe reserved for sleeping, washing the car, running in a store down the corner, a go-to wardrobe piece for the gym, an undershirt for the suit and a lot more other activities where you don’t notice it’s those white shirts that let you cross the bridge in different situations. So see, that’s basically the magic of white tees. More than an essential piece of men’s wardrobe, white tees can save you on different occasions if you only know how to pick them.
White tees have evolved from an undershirt to a favorite day to day wear for men. It is an enduring classic that never went away since it came on the fashion scene. Worn by the industry’s big names and a piece equating to that of James Dean style, this wardrobe staple is the perfect understated cool look – the one the girls dig (wink, wink). Still, it is frequently overshadowed by suits and dressy shirts; one that is unfortunate, really.
Why do you need to look so far when the ultimate style is just in front of you? Well, probably because you’re white tees are on the drooping side, not quite on the right size, and so worn out and yellowing it would be indecent to wear.
To maximize the use and appreciate more your white tees, be wise in buying one. Here are the simple guidelines to remember.
The Fit
Most of us will stay away on loose fits, as they don’t show off our hard-earned beach body or for some the fake beach body (perks of being good at sucking air) and because of that we end up with really tight-fitting clothes. That’s not advisable though.
Apart from it’s extremely hard to breathe and uncomfortable, you’ll look like you’re trying hard, which is probably true if you ended up with that one. The right measurement should be the actual measurement of your neck with an added extra inch.
The right fit on your neck will prevent the shirt drooping down up to your navel (that would be funny) and will make sure that your shoulders will look sharp, yet relaxed and your pecs slightly prominent.
Silhouettes
Generally, there are three types of shirt silhouettes that will look good on certain body types and preference. Classic will look good on broad shoulders while tailored will be best for the lanky body types. If you don’t want an extra length or you’re wearing a jacket over it, choose trimmed.
The Fabric
If thicker is good for most clothing pieces that does not apply on tees. Lightweight fabrics are betters suited for T-shirts, such as cotton. If you have the budget, buy the Egyptian fiber as they are smoother, thinner, and lasts longer.
However, you can opt for cheaper fabrics that will still ensure your shirt to look good. Cotton blends such as cotton-polyester or cotton mixed with stretch fibers are the best choices.
Whatever you choose, be sure to take good care of them as they will still take you to many events from movie nights to dress down dates.
