Men’s fashion is slowly but surely on the rise as the new breed of designers bring a breath of fresh air to the commonly shirt – pants ensemble seen from the runways down to off the street daily wear.
The revolution of putting fashion in the street instead of incorporating street to fashion is what currently penetrates the latest scene on men’s wear.
One of the anticipated brands that snatched the interest of fashion world is Public School. The brand is being led by the duo Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne. The promising team was able to infiltrate the spot light with their designs in modern cut and fresh take on avant- garde made casual. The color scheme is usually in the shades of black and white – talk about classic elegance infused with present fad.
Before they become a team, the two had their fair share of fashion backgrounds. How was able to work with clothing brands like Mecca and Ecko while Osborne worked in Tommy Hilfiger. Years later, the two-man group is now being tapped and asked for collaboration by other brands.
Recent collaborations include MR Porter capsule collection, Oliver Peoples 29015 sunglasses collection and Killspencer 2014 collection.
Another huge collaboration the duo had gotten into was Nike’s Jordan collection. They worked together with Nike on conceptualizing Air Jordan 1 Retro, Air Jordan 10, and Jordan Melo M11. The aesthetic of each look gives young and dynamic vibe fit for men who go for style and functionality combined.
And just announced, the duo also became DKNY’s creative directors. It is expected that with their involvement, DKNY will be transformed into a more relevant brand fit for the wearers of today.
Public School has won several citations like CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2013 and CFDA Award for Men’s Wear Design in 2014. This two man team is also the first recipient of International Woolmark Prize. The brand may still be considered new but the awards they received convey that Public School has the makings of being one of the strongest fashion empires in the future.
