Adam’s crash course on scent selection

muscular handsome Man with perfume bottle wearing

Men are known to be as hygienic as women, though not the same vulgar way. Men thrive to keep vanity way below the shelf as it somewhat lessens the machismo that they so want to preserve, and talking about what type of deodorant they are using or what socks are best for soccer is such an awkward way to spill out of a man’s mouth.

While we don’t remove the possibility of being keen on how to take care of themselves, it is a guy’s nature to look into the details of his overall look in such a way that it will appear as if he knows everything that there is to know without going over the top.

And when a guy had decided on as to what ensemble they want to don, they are also that specific with the scent that they will pair their outfit with. For those who are well-trained and mastered the art of wearing perfume, feel free to nod and for those who are just starting to embrace the sharpness of men into fashion detail, read on for some tips in picking the right perfume.

A guy must be fully-aware of what the concentration of the chosen fragrance. Fragrance concentration is based on the ratio of the perfume oil and the water composition is a specific bottle of fragrance. It is a general note that the more the fragrance oil, the stronger the scent would be, and vice versa.

In reality, there are five known types of fragrance concentrations which are perfumed (20-30% concentration), Eau de parfum (15-20%), Eau de toilette (5-15%), Eau de cologne (2-4%) and Eau fraiche (1-3%). Commonly, Eau de parfum and Eau de toilette are the ones available on the market stands and each can last for 4-5 hours and 2-3 hours respectively.

On each bottle of perfume that your guy would be buying, it is important that you know that there are three stages on as to when a specific scent or a note would be effervescent. Named as a top note, middle or heart note and base, these are the stages on as to how you scent would develop in retrospect to what type of perfume it is (as stated above).

The top note is the initial scent that a guy will smell and can last to up to 8 minutes after exposure. Top notes are light scents of floral and powder. The middle note, on the other hand, is said to be smelled after 30 minutes or even after the top note have been exhumed.

As you move along this stage, the heavier the scent would be. The last stage would be the base note and this is the final scent that you would wear right after the first two stages wear off. Stronger notes include the smell of leather and wood.

And of course, when picking a particular scent, always bear in mind the four partitions of the fragrance wheel which are floral, oriental, woody and fresh. Guys must keep in mind that when picking the right smell, they must put their personality as the top determining factor.

Men must also have different sets of fragrance for different occasions for luncheons and formal meetings, sports activities, day-to-day office, casual night outs and friendly dates. Also, men must be aware of what a spray and a splash meant when purchasing your fragrance elixirs.

Sprays are the common types you on the market with spritzers and is more convenient to use, splashes are the ones available by the bottle by where you need to uncap it to get your drop of fragrance heaven.
