Getting Out of Fashion’s Sticky Situations

200344699-001

Fashion is cool, but not when it turns into a mishap. We’ve all been there where there’s a run in your shorts or a static cling in your legs.

That’s probably tamed, but what happens when it’s already a stain? Or worse, stuck zipper! No matter how awesome your get-up is, it all goes down the drain when you accidentally set foot on the quicksand of fashion mishap.

In order to prevent such sticky situations that could easily spiral into a big mess, let’s learn how to nip the bud at the very first sign of a problem, shall we?

Some run in your clothes

Some run in your tights seems like a tiny-teeny problem, but our irritation level increases as the loose thread keeps lengthening. One famous solution is a clear nail polish to stop the run, but it’s not every day that you stuff those in your bags. A hairspray will do, too, if you ever find yourself in this situation without a clear nail polish to turn to.

Tangled accessories

Did you put your necklace or bracelets in your bag? Chances are they’re probably tangled and nothing’s more frustrating than untangling those. What you can do is put an oil to those annoying knots and gently pull them apart with something really thin, like needle. If you don’t have a needle, there may be a corner drugstore from where you’re at.

Irritating clings

Another irritating thing is when you’re skirts cling to your legs. You keep on pulling them from sticking to your legs, which probably looks weird to people seeing you walking, while touching your skirt every few minutes. Diffuse the static by applying moisture into your legs with water.

Unhemmed cuffs

There are times when your pants suddenly decided that it needs hemming. It can be easily fixed by some double-sided tape to hold it off until you can go back home and fix it properly.

Stuck Zippers

Now this is another level of fashion mishap bordering on wardrobe malfunction. Your friend might probably find it hilarious – which they always do when you’re in some sticky situations – but not the others. Fix it quick with a lip balm or a petroleum jelly, which is surely present in your bag. Rub it in the zippers teeth, so it can slide easily.

Broken heels

Not only it does feel like the end of the world because your favorite heels was broken, but the staring you got from people certainly adds to the feels. Some fast-drying glue could easily solve the problem, so better keep one in your bag for emergencies.

Some stains

A deodorant stain can be easily fixed with a dryer sheet or a deodorant-removing sponge, but a stain on suede another matter entirely. If you can’t resist wearing this kind of fabric, be sure to remember how to remedy it from stains. Sprinkle it with cornstarch and let it soak for ten minutes, then brush it off and repeat as necessary.

Painful blisters

Blisters can really ruin your day. Avoid this one by putting a band aid or if you don’t have one, you can use your lip balm to prevent friction. (I’m starting to think lip balms are not made to gloss your lips only.)

Sticky gums

Could your day get any worse? Apparently yes when you accidentally sit on someone’s discarded gum. It is not only totally gross, but another way to put you in a really bad mood because it ruined your style. Get ahold of some ice or hairspray to harden the gum and get it off your clothes – fast!
